Things To Do when you stay at The White Oak House

Lake Bob Sandlin State Park

Covering roughly 9,000 acres, here you can swim, fish and paddle boat around the lake. You can also hike, camp, mountain bike, or even geocache. If you visit in autumn, take some time to see the beautiful fall foliage.

Fish from shore, pier or boat. Or try your luck at the stocked Trout Pond or Brim Pond. Anglers here catch largemouth bass, catfish and crappie. The park has a boat ramp, a lighted fishing pier and a fish cleaning station. Fishing poles and kayaks are available for rent. ~15 minutes from the house

You do not need a fishing license to fish from shore or pier in a state park, but you will need a license to fish from a boat.

Los Pinos Winery - Pittsburg

Wine in East Texas? You bet! In the small town of Pittsburg lies a gorgeous winery and restaurant called Los Pinos. With acres of grapes and a restaurant with views, this is a great place to have a romantic dinner or a place to just hang out and drink some delicious wine. Don't miss the made-from-scratch chocolate cake while you're there! ~25 minutes from the house

Kayaking/Boating

Boat ramps can be found all around the area. Not too far from the rental house, within the neighborhood, you'll find two boat ramps. Kayaks can be launched from either, and a boat can be launched from the north one. Other boat ramps are located around the area outside of the neighborhood as well.

See Nature

Everywhere you look, you'll see all kinds of nature. Surrounded by huge oak trees, pine trees and cedar trees, during the day you can see deer, hundreds of birds, including bald eagles on some occasions, rabbits and more. At night listen to owls and tree frogs, and maybe see a fox. On some summer nights, you'll even see fireflies!

Cornhole

Like a little friendly competition among family or friends? Try your hand at cornhole in the back yard.

Darts

Inside the house you'll find a regulation dart board that's ready for some fierce competition. Okay, maybe just a relaxing, casual game.

Board games, vintage Playstation and an arcade!

Ok, so it's not a PS5 but this stand-up arcade plays the classics! We've also stocked the cabinets with lots of board games so you can have some family fun. If you're feeling nostalgic, see if you can put your name on the top score board playing Centipede on the arcade!

S'mores!

Sit outside and enjoy a campfire at the fire pit. Grab the marshmallows and chocolate, then chill in the Adirondack chairs.
